It's a question that many people are looking to find the answer to, how much research has there really been done on mangosteen and its affects? Well this article will endeavor to explain the level of mangosteen research that has been conducted and whether or not it is completely sufficient enough to make the claim that mangosteen has these so called health benefits.

First of all how much do you know about mangosteen? Well let me explain. This fruit originates from South East Asia in the areas of subtropical climates, where it thrives in the humid conditions. It is a round purple colored fruit, around about the size of a mango. There is the claim that it contains a high level of a certain antioxidant known as a 'xanthone' and these antioxidants are said to have the ability to reduce the likelihood of someone developing cancer.

After a lot of mangosteen research we do know that this fruit contains a high level of xanthones that that they are definitely very strong antioxidants, however it should not be said that mangosteen holds the cure to cancer. First of all what does an antioxidant do to help your body. Well antioxidants are known to have the potential to remove free radicals that have the ability to transform later into cancer cells. What most people don't know is that most fruit and vegetables contain a great deal of antioxidant.

What makes mangosteen so extraordinary is that the type of antioxidant it contains, the xanthones is far more powerful that most other types of antioxidants. After extensive research on this topic, nutritionists have concluded that we need to consume at least five pieces if fruit and vegetables a day to get enough antioxidants to help remove the amount of free radicals that form in our bodies.

Still many people believe that this amount is not sufficient enough with the amount of fatty foods people consume on a daily basis, especially in Western society. Therefore one of the things that needs to be pointed out is that eating mangosteen will definitely ensure that you will consume the required amount of antioxidants needed to fight free radicals in your bodies.

Although there has not been a great deal of mangosteen research done in the past, we are sure to see a lot more in the future due to the growing popularity of this amazing fruit and you can be confident that the results will be more positive than negative.
