Nearly everyone would like to have a swashbuckling marriage affair but then looking at it economically would really take away all the radiance from the faces of the couple. It comes as a shock to them because even after planning a wedding on a small scale would cost quite a sum. The fairytale weddings that you have witnessed before, either personally or on television, costs tens of thousands of dollars. Even an average American wedding costs at least twenty thousand dollars. Therefore planning a proper budget for your wedding is very important.

* Life costs money at every stage, be it college, cars, homes, vacations, children, etc. When you compare these things to a wedding that costs $20,000, it is not a wise thing to do because generally cars lose their glamour the moment they leave the showroom and slowly its value depreciates. But a wedding is something different; a pure affair that unites to souls for the rest of their lives; it is a new beginning.

* Some factors like catering and reception are the costliest; since at least 50-100 guests are invited to a wedding and have to be fed at a moderate sum of $50 per head, only the catering costs itself goes up to 2,500-$5,000! Moreover there are other costs like drinks which are very costly since you would not offer cheap wines to your guests on your wedding.

* The bride and bridegroom wears their wedding dresses only once in their life and that also on the most important day. Thus no one would like to buy anything cheap and would opt for one of the best wedding gowns and suits that cost thousands of dollars.

* Beside the main and costliest affairs, there are other aspects that also make the wedding bill go up enormously. Flowers, transport for the wedding party, hotels and accommodation, a wedding photographer or videographer to capture the unique memories and the wedding cake would cost a hefty sum too.

* The place where you plan to get married is also very important as you have to pay for renting the place and utilizing it for a wedding party. Marrying at a church is not cheap as you have to pay the priest for his time and for hiring the church too. Sometimes people prefer to get married at non-traditional locations such as hotels or on vacations too in order to decrease the costs of the wedding. But then shifting the locations too much would not help a lot because there will be a number of guests arriving and you will have to provide accommodation to all of them.

Weddings are always expensive but then you only get married once in your life and would like it to be the most special day in your life. You will want all your guests, including your parents, friends and relatives to remember this day forever. If you want your wedding ceremony to go off well you cannot really cut down your budget. Thus the best thing to do would be to plan your wedding for sometime so that you can decrease the cost to at least some extent.
